Metrolinx announces GO train and bus service changes starting Saturday

GO train and bus service cuts hit Lakeshore, Barrie and Stouffville routes See which trips change now and what Metrolinx is restoring for fall travel

Metrolinx says it will adjust GO train and bus service starting Saturday, with some cuts but no changes to rush hour rail service. The changes affect several routes, including Lakeshore East, Lakeshore West, Barrie and Stouffville, along with some GO bus lines. According to the agency, the updates are meant to reflect seasonal demand, recover from higher ridership during FIFA events, and address a shortage of train crews. Some rail service will be shifted to buses as a temporary measure, and the interim arrangements are expected to last until spring 2027. Weekend service on the Lakeshore East and West lines will run every 30 minutes, while some weekday and weekend trips on the Barrie and Stouffville lines will be removed. Metrolinx is also restoring service to several postsecondary school bus routes, adding trips on multiple lines, and ending seasonal summer service to Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto Zoo and Toronto Premium Outlets.
