Virtual OPUS cards now available to Android users in Montreal

Digital OPUS card for Montreal Android riders makes transit payments easier Use the Chrono app to tap, ride and stay ready for future payment options

Montreal transit riders with Android phones can now use a digital version of the OPUS card, the regional transit agency said Tuesday. The ARTM said it had been testing the feature since late 2025 and that about 20,000 people tried it before the wider rollout through the Chrono app, which is used to buy and validate transit fares. The digital OPUS card is part of the $146 million Concerto project, which is intended to modernize payment options for public transit in the greater Montreal area. Testing for iPhone support is still ongoing. Physical OPUS cards will continue to be available, and the agency also plans to eventually let riders pay with a bank card, although that testing has not started yet.
