Two boys suspected in Hamilton assault and break-in

Hamilton police charges: 12-year-old boy accused in assault and break-ins See what investigators say about the Canadian Tire theft and vape store case

Hamilton police say a 12yearold boy has been charged after an assault on an eightyearold child and a breakin at a nearby store. Investigators say the 12yearold and an 11yearold boy are accused of breaking into a Canadian Tire in Hamilton on Tuesday and stealing bear spray, which was later used against the younger child. Police also allege the 12yearold was involved in an earlier breakin at a vape store on July 1, where thousands of dollars worth of products were stolen. The 11yearold cannot be charged under Canadian law, and both boys' identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
