Mark Carney joins Toronto Pride Parade
Toronto Pride Parade: see Carney, Chow and huge downtown crowds Catch the parade highlights, World Cup buzz and LGBTQ+ celebration now
Toronto’s annual Pride Parade took place on Sunday, drawing large crowds downtown as the city also enjoyed celebrations tied to World Cup excitement.
Prime Minister Mark Carney briefly marched with Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow, greeting people, taking selfies and joining the crowd along Yonge Street. He was sprayed with water by paradegoers and continued on with wet hair and a soaked shirt.
It was Carney’s first time walking in Toronto’s Pride Parade since taking office last year. The event also highlighted Pride’s history and ongoing focus on LGBTQ+ visibility, equality and support for queer and trans youth.
