Police watchdog investigates Surrey crash that sent driver and pedestrian to hospital
Surrey collision probe after police chase leaves pedestrian critically hurt Witnesses and video can help investigators piece together what happened
B.C.’s civilian police watchdog is investigating a collision in Surrey that left a pedestrian with lifethreatening injuries and a driver in serious condition.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. PT near 96 Avenue and King George Boulevard. Surrey Police Service said officers were trying to stop a pickup truck when a police vehicle was involved in a crash with the truck, after which a pedestrian was struck.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. said the pickup truck then hit a concrete SkyTrain barrier after the driver failed to stop. The agency is asking witnesses or anyone with video of the incident to contact investigators.
