OpenAI Updates GPT-Rosalind for Life Sciences Research

OpenAI has introduced a new update to its GPTRosalind model, which is designed for enterprise life sciences research. The company says the revised model combines GPT5.5style agentic coding and tool use with stronger performance in areas such as medicinal chemistry, genomics, biology analysis, and experimental workflow support.
The update is available in research preview to eligible organizations worldwide through OpenAI’s trustedaccess deployment structure. OpenAI also introduced new benchmarks, including LifeSciBench, MedChemBench, GeneBench, and LabWorkBench, to evaluate the model on research tasks such as evidence handling, drugdiscovery analysis, genomics workflows, and wetlab troubleshooting.
OpenAI said the broader rollout includes plugins for life sciences research and NGS analysis, along with new file viewers intended to help scientists review biological data inside Codex. The company also said it is expanding access to qualified organizations and highlighted a partnership with Novo Nordisk to support medical research and drug discovery workflows.
