Canada’s first dyslexia centre opens permanent home in Vancouver

Dyslexia support in Vancouver gets a permanent home for families and schools Discover programs, teacher training, and early help for students with learning differences

Canada’s first centre focused on dyslexia is establishing a permanent location in Vancouver, with programs aimed at supporting families and helping educators better serve students with learning differences. Neil Johnston, CEO of the Centre for Dyslexia, said the organization is trying to close longstanding gaps in identification and support. He said many children with dyslexia go undiagnosed and may struggle in school without understanding why. The centre will offer direct services for families, along with training and resources for teachers and school districts. It is also working with schools across British Columbia, with a longerterm goal of building more capacity within the education system to support dyslexic learners earlier.
