The Pentagon said Thursday it awarded Oracle a 10year software contract valued at up to $7 billion, giving the company a major government deal as investors have recently pressured the stock. According to the Defense Department, the agreement covers Oracle software used in onpremises data centers supporting the military, intelligence agencies and the Coast Guard. Officials said the new buying approach should save taxpayers at least $441 million. The announcement comes as Oracle has shifted much of its business focus toward AI infrastructure, even as its legacy software remains widely used by large organizations. Oracle shares rose in afterhours trading following the news.
