Todd Blanche, the acting attorney general nominated by President Donald Trump to lead the Justice Department, is receiving public backing from law enforcement groups and former DOJ officials before his Senate confirmation hearing.
According to Sen. Chuck Grassley’s office, the support includes the Fraternal Order of Police, 23 state attorneys general, 100 bipartisan U.S. attorneys and DOJ officials, and families affected by violent crime tied to undocumented immigrants.
Supporters say Blanche has focused the department on public safety, crime, drug trafficking, immigration enforcement, and other federal law enforcement priorities since taking over after Pam Bondi left the role in April. He is scheduled to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, with outside witnesses set to testify on Thursday.
