Dandeneau leads Canada into Commonwealth Games opening ceremony

King Charles officially declared the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games open during the opening ceremony on Thursday.
Canada entered the stadium led by wheelchair basketball player Kady Dandeneau as flagbearer and lawn bowler Ryan Bester as batonbearer. Dandeneau, a twotime Paralympian and gold medallist at the 2022 Games, helped lead the Canadian delegation as the Parade of Nations began.
Canada has sent 149 athletes to Glasgow to compete in nine sports and four Para disciplines. The team includes swimmers, track and field athletes, and other returning champions, with events set to run over the next 11 days.
