Sanofi vaccine plant boosts Canada’s flu shot supply with senior-focused doses See how the $925M North York site supports jobs, resilience, and biomanufacturing
Sanofi has launched a new $925 million vaccine manufacturing facility in North York, with the site set to produce highdose flu vaccines for seniors in Canada.
Federal and provincial officials highlighted the project as part of efforts to strengthen domestic production of critical medicines after supplychain disruptions seen during the COVID19 pandemic. The company’s expansion is expected to create about 1,200 jobs across Canada, including 300 at the Toronto campus.
The new Charles Best building is located on the same site where insulin was discovered more than a century ago. Government leaders and Toronto officials said the facility adds to the city’s life sciences legacy and supports local biomanufacturing capacity.
