63 arrested in Ontario internet child exploitation investigation

Ontario police say 63 people have been arrested and more than 200 charges laid in a monthlong investigation into internet child exploitation. The joint operation, called Project Time, ran from June 1 to June 30 and involved the Ontario Provincial Police and 25 local police services. Investigators carried out 264 criminal investigations, with 154 still ongoing, and identified 51 victims. All of those arrested are from Ontario, according to police. The OPP said three of the accused were teenagers, two held positions of trust and authority in their communities, and eight were repeat offenders. Police also said parents, educators, child advocacy groups, government and technology companies all have a role in helping protect children online.
