BTS said they will not enter any songs for the 2027 Grammy Awards, announcing the decision in a joint Instagram statement on Wednesday.
The group said they want their music to be judged on its own terms, not separated by language or region, and thanked their fans for their support.
The statement comes after the Recording Academy added a new category for best Asian pop music performance. BTS have been nominated five times before but have never won a Grammy, despite performing at the show three times. The band is also in a busy comeback year after releasing their album Arirang, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and they are preparing for a North American tour stop in Toronto.
