Delta says higher airfare could support 2026 profit target

Delta Air Lines said stronger airfares and steady demand are helping keep its 2026 profit target within reach, according to comments from CEO Ed Bastian on Friday. The airline reported secondquarter adjusted earnings and revenue that both topped Wall Street estimates. Delta also reaffirmed its fullyear earnings outlook and issued a thirdquarter forecast that was slightly above analysts’ expectations. Bastian said the carrier is passing more of its higher fuel costs on to customers, while premium cabin sales and corporate travel remain solid. Delta’s net income fell from a year earlier, but revenue rose as the airline continued to benefit from strong pricing and demand.
