Goldman Sachs highlights its top Chinese AI models

Goldman Sachs favors Chinese AI models as Zhipu gains enterprise traction See why Zhipu, DeepSeek and ByteDance stand out in China’s AI race

Goldman Sachs has identified three Chinese artificial intelligence models it favors, including one that is publicly traded. The bank began coverage of Hong Konglisted Zhipu, also known as Knowledge Atlas, with a neutral rating and a price target of HK$1,880, which the report said implied some upside from the stock’s recent close. According to Goldman’s analysts, Zhipu’s latest GLM5.2 model has improved quickly and is seeing broader use among enterprises and small and mediumsized businesses. The bank said the model’s adoption by coders could help support further upgrades and reinforce Zhipu’s position in enterprise and coding applications in China. Goldman’s other preferred Chinese AI model companies are DeepSeek and ByteDance, both privately held. The report compared companies on factors including speed to market, benchmark scores, valuation, pricing and AI video generation capabilities. It said Zhipu and DeepSeek generally ranked ahead of Alibaba, Tencent and Minimax in several areas, while ByteDance led in video generation. The analysts also noted that access to computing power, regulations and efficiency will remain important for the sector.
