The Montreal Canadiens have signed head coach Martin St. Louis to a multiyear contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 202930 season. The announcement came Monday during the team’s seasonopening golf tournament.
St. Louis, who was entering the final year of his previous deal, has led the Canadiens through their rebuild and into backtoback playoff appearances, including a run to the Eastern Conference final last season. Team captain Nick Suzuki and management praised his communication, teaching style, and steady approach.
St. Louis, 51, is in his sixth season behind the bench. He has a 16315547 record with Montreal and was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award in 2025. The former NHL star was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018 and won the Hart Trophy and Art Ross Trophy during his playing career.
