Judge orders White House to restore access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico
White House press access restored after a judge blocks Trump’s reporter ban See why the ruling matters as CNN, MS NOW and Politico regain hard-pass access
A federal judge has ordered the White House to temporarily restore press access for reporters from CNN, MS NOW and Politico after finding that Donald Trump’s ban was likely unconstitutional.
The ruling requires the administration to reinstate the outlets’ hardpass credentials for 14 days while the case continues. Judge Tim Kelly said the government had not shown factual support for its claim that revoking the passes would protect national security.
The decision came after Trump announced last week that the three outlets would be barred from the White House. Politico reported that one of its reporters was still denied access on Thursday and had a press credential confiscated by the Secret Service despite the court order.
