New Airbnb data suggests British Columbians are choosing more local trips this fall, with several rural destinations seeing stronger interest.
Places such as Haida Gwaii, Powell River and Colwood are drawing more attention, according to the company. Airbnb said domestic destination searches in B.C. are up 40% over the past year, with travellers often looking for scenic spots across the province.
The trend extends beyond B.C. as well. Airbnb said searches for domestic stays in Canada are up 25% from 2025, while interest in rural destinations across the country is up 30%. The company said the shift may also support small businesses in smaller communities.
