Montreal Victoire vs Minnesota Frost Game 2: Can Montreal even the PWHL semifinal series after a wild overtime loss? Get the key updates and outlook.
The Montreal Victoire will try to bounce back in Game 2 of their bestoffive PWHL semifinal series against the Minnesota Frost on Tuesday in Laval, Que., after dropping the opener 54 in overtime.
Game 1 was a physical, penaltyfilled contest that featured Laura Stacey’s first postseason hat trick in league history, but Minnesota answered with a late equalizer and the overtime winner from defender Jincy Roese. Montreal forward Abby Roque said the team wants to make the Frost work physically over the course of the series.
Minnesota will be without forward Britta CurlSalemme for Game 2 because of a onegame suspension for an illegal hit to the head of Montreal’s Kaitlin Willoughby. The league also fined CurlSalemme for a separate incident that led to Roque leaving with a black eye.
Montreal coach Kori Cheverie said her team needs a stronger start after falling behind early in Game 1, while Stacey said the group is focused on the present and believes this year’s roster is different from past playoff exits. Game 3 shifts to Minnesota on Thursday, with Games 4 and 5 scheduled if needed.
