Quebec Liberal Leader Charles Milliard won his seat in the Orford riding, helping his party double its representation in the National Assembly from 19 to 40 members. The Liberals will serve as the Official Opposition to the Parti Québécois minority government, after keeping strong support in Montreal and making gains in regions including Laval, Outaouais, the Montérégie, the Eastern Townships, and Quebec City. In his victory speech, Milliard said the party is ready to work with the new government on many issues, but will not support any move toward a referendum. He also thanked supporters, his family, and his partner Simon.
