Nearly $1M in jewelry recovered in Ontario retail theft probe

Peel police recover stolen property after Square One break-in Arrest made as investigators seek other victims and link more losses

Peel Regional Police say they have recovered nearly $1 million in stolen property and arrested a man after a breakin at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga earlier this year. Police say a masked suspect used tools to enter Holt Renfrew shortly after midnight on April 30, taking highend jewelry and clothing from several display cases before fleeing. Investigators also allege the suspect stole an unoccupied vehicle left running nearby, which was later recovered. After reviewing video and carrying out other investigative steps, officers executed a search warrant at a Mississauga home and recovered a large amount of stolen items. A 41yearold Mississauga man has been charged with several offences, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of breakin instruments and breach of probation. Police say the investigation is ongoing and that they are still trying to identify other possible victims.
