Montreal transit passes now work on Android phones with Chrono app access Check availability and skip the OPUS card as ARTM expands digital tickets
Some Android users in the greater Montreal area can now store and use transit passes on their phones instead of relying on a physical OPUS card.
The new option is being rolled out gradually through the Chrono app, after a small test group used it in late 2025. According to the regional transit agency ARTM, the updated app lets eligible users buy and validate tickets directly on their devices.
ARTM said users can check the Chrono app to see whether the feature is available to them. The agency also said it is working with Apple to bring the same function to iPhone users later. Most standardfare passes are expected to be supported in virtual form, although the digital passes cannot be transferred to a physical OPUS card.
