Police in Northamptonshire, England, have ended a murder investigation into the death of Robert Brown, 57, after a coroner ruled the case a tragic accident.
Brown was found in August 2025 on a bench in Northampton with fatal stab injuries. Investigators said he had been drinking heavily and likely fell asleep on a knife stored in his bag, which then pierced his body.
Authorities said the evidence did not support homicide, and three people who were briefly arrested were later released. Officials also said Brown’s alcohol dependence made him more vulnerable to blood loss after the injury.
