Victims of Quebec helicopter crash remembered as probe begins
Quebec helicopter crash victims remembered as family mourns a pilot and mother TSB investigates the fiery Montérégie wreck as friends seek answers and closure
The victims of a fatal helicopter crash in Quebec’s Montérégie region are being remembered by family and friends as a skilled pilot, a devoted mother, a husband, and a young man with much still ahead of him.
The crash happened Saturday afternoon in SainteBrigided’Iberville, southeast of Montreal, when a helicopter went down in a field and caught fire. Police said four people died at the scene. It is not yet clear whether the fire started in the air or after impact.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent investigators to the site. Aviation experts say the fire could make the examination more difficult, but investigators will still look for onboard data and debris to determine what happened. The TSB said it will gather information and assess the occurrence.
