Alphabet shares fall after report of Gemini 3.5 Pro delay
Alphabet shares fall as Gemini 3.5 Pro delays raise AI model concerns See why coding performance issues could affect Google’s AI race and stock
Alphabet shares fell after a Bloomberg report said the company has delayed the release of Gemini 3.5 Pro, its flagship AI model.
According to the report, the model’s coding performance has not met internal expectations, and Alphabet is spending more time improving it before a wider launch. The company had introduced Gemini 3.5 Pro in May at Google I/O and said it was already being used internally.
Alphabet said in a statement that it is shipping models quickly while trying to keep them costeffective, and that it is testing the upgraded model with partners. The report comes as competition intensifies in AI coding tools, with OpenAI, Meta and others recently unveiling new models aimed at software development.
