OpenAI extends cyber access to Ukraine for civilian defense
OpenAI Daybreak gives Ukraine cyber defense tools for critical infrastructure Protect hospitals, energy, and telecoms with authorized vulnerability testing
OpenAI said it will give Ukraine access to its Daybreak program to help protect civilian infrastructure from cyberattacks. The company said the tools will support authorized security work, including finding software vulnerabilities, testing fixes, and reviewing suspicious activity.
The announcement was made during the UN General Assembly in New York by Ukrainian and OpenAI officials. OpenAI said the effort is aimed at helping Ukraine’s cyber defenders respond to persistent attacks on services such as hospitals, energy systems, and telecommunications.
OpenAI also said its cyber models have already been used by publicsector defenders in parts of Europe, including France, Germany, and Poland, to identify vulnerabilities that were later fixed.
