Research on adapting to hotter temperatures explores heat resilience
Heat resilience research explores how bodies adapt to rising temperatures safely. See how physical activity and hot-weather coping could shape healthier communities.
Researchers at the Montreal Heart Institute’s ÉPIC Centre are studying how people and communities can better cope with rising temperatures. Daniel Gagnon, who leads the work and also teaches kinesiology at the Université de Montréal, discusses how physical activity and heat affect the body.
The research focuses on building resilience as warmer weather becomes more common. Rather than treating heat only as a hazard, the team is looking at how people may adapt safely to living and exercising in hotter conditions.
The CBC Radio segment aired on July 5 and runs 11 minutes and 50 seconds.
