12 Montreal factories to take part in annual siren test
Montreal siren test checks factory alarms and toxic-release readiness citywide See when alarms will sound and why officials say the drill keeps communities safe
Twelve factories across Montreal will sound their alarms on Wednesday as part of the city’s annual siren test. The drill is designed to make sure industrial sites and nearby residents are prepared in the event of a toxic release.
The tests will take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with each site sounding its warning siren for three minutes. Most factories will test twice, while Saputo in SaintLaurent will test three times.
City officials say there is no danger during the exercise. They say the drill helps confirm that equipment is working properly, emergency responders are ready, and people living or working near industrial sites know what to do in a real emergency.
