Reform UK receives $97 million from two crypto billionaires

Reform UK crypto donations spotlight Farage’s record funding from billionaire backers See how the money renews scrutiny of digital asset influence in British politics

Nigel Farage’s Reform UK has received 72 million pounds, or about $97 million, from two crypto billionaires after a matching donation from Christopher Harborne followed an earlier pledge by Ben Delo. Harborne said his 36 million pound contribution was inspired by Delo’s donation. Delo, a cofounder of BitMEX, said he wanted to help create a fairer contest in the next UK general election. Both donations are being described as the largest ever made to a British political party. The funding has also renewed scrutiny of Reform UK’s links to figures in the crypto industry. The party has faced questions from lawmakers over the influence of digital asset money in politics, and Farage has previously denied wrongdoing in related donation controversies.
