Brunswick wildfire complex burns out of control near Boston Bar, B.C. See the latest evacuation alerts, highway closures, and firefighting updates

Fire crews are continuing to battle the Brunswick wildfire complex near Boston Bar, B.C., where officials say the blaze remains out of control and evacuation orders and alerts are in place for nearby communities. B.C. Wildfire Service information officer Julia Caranci said the complex has shown very active fire behaviour in recent days, especially on the larger Ainslie Creek fire on the east side of the Fraser River. The smaller Brunswick Creek fire is burning on the west side. Officials said improved mapping changed the reported size of the Ainslie Creek fire. While slightly cooler temperatures and higher humidity are expected for a short period, the wildfire service says hot, dry conditions and stronger winds are likely to return, increasing the chance of more vigorous fire behaviour in steep terrain. Crews are working around the clock, including with nightvision helicopters, and a section of Highway 1 remains closed near the fire zone.
