PQ on track for possible majority as CAQ falls in polls
Quebec election polls point to a PQ majority as CAQ support drops fast See how the latest numbers could reshape the race before voters head to the polls
New polling suggests the Parti Québécois could be heading toward a majority government in Quebec’s election next week, while support for the governing Coalition Avenir Québec has dropped sharply.
A Léger survey puts the CAQ at 16 per cent, placing it behind the PQ, the Quebec Liberals and the Conservatives. Another projection from Route127.ca says the CAQ could fail to win any seats, while the PQ moves into majority territory.
PQ Leader Paul StPierre Plamondon says his party has momentum as the campaign enters its final stretch. CAQ Leader Christine Fréchette said there is still time to turn things around, while Liberal Leader Charles Milliard and Conservative Leader Éric Duhaime used the polling to press their own arguments about Quebec’s political direction and the debate over sovereignty.
