Montreal police officer and civilian identified after Côte-des-Neiges shooting

Montreal police have identified the officer killed in Monday’s shooting in CôtedesNeiges as Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, who had been with the force since 2021. The civilian who died in the incident was identified as Michel Mizrahi. Quebec MNA Monsef Derraji and the City of Montreal both offered condolences to the families and to everyone affected by the shooting. Police said the officer was killed during an intervention in the neighbourhood. One suspect was also killed, while another officer was injured and is in stable condition. A civilian suffered minor injuries. Quebec’s police watchdog, the BEI, is investigating the events, and authorities have said the case is not related to terrorism.
