Police investigate Cat in the Hat costume chase in West Kelowna
West Kelowna teen chase probe: RCMP seek Cat in the Hat suspect Security footage could help; if you saw the area near Shamrock Drive, contact police
Police in West Kelowna, British Columbia, are investigating after a teenager was allegedly chased by a person wearing a Cat in the Hat costume on Aug. 24.
RCMP say the teen got home safely and the suspect has not been identified. Officers released a securitycamera image and are asking anyone with dashcam or security footage from the area around 9 p.m. in the 2000 block of Shamrock Drive to come forward.
Police called the incident a concerning prank and said that while wearing a costume is not a crime, following someone in a way that makes them fear for their safety could amount to criminal harassment. They also reminded young people to go to a safe, populated place, contact a trusted adult, and call 911 if they feel in immediate danger.
