Doug Ford's approval rating falls to a new low, poll says
Ontario Premier Doug Ford approval rating hits a 2018 low at 21% in new poll Economic pressure and jet backlash weigh on support—see how voters view Ford
Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s approval rating has dropped to its lowest point since he took office in 2018, according to a new Angus Reid poll. The survey says his support fell by 10 points between March and June, leaving him with 21% approval among Ontario voters.
Angus Reid said the decline reflects both economic pressure and decisions by Ford’s government that drew criticism, including the shortlived plan to buy a $28.9 million government jet. The premier later said the aircraft would be sold back to Bombardier after backlash.
The poll also found Ford near the bottom among Canadian premiers, while Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew remained the most popular in the survey. The report comes as Ford’s Progressive Conservatives face softer public support and questions from opposition parties about the government's priorities and its push on crossborder trade and tariffs.
