Global tech sell-off deepens as Asian markets fall
Tech stocks slide as AI cost worries hit global markets Track Asia, Europe, and U.S. moves as Fed expectations shift
Global technology stocks came under renewed pressure on Friday, with U.S. stock futures lower and markets across Asia and Europe following the downturn. Investors were reacting to concerns about rising costs tied to artificial intelligence infrastructure and a broader shift away from big technology names.
South Korea’s Kospi led regional losses, falling 5.81%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped 4.15%. In Europe, major indexes also opened lower, with technology shares among the weakest performers.
In the U.S., Thursday’s session saw more losses in tech, including a 6% decline in Apple and a drop of more than 3% in Microsoft. Analysts said the market is also adjusting to changing expectations for Federal Reserve policy, adding to volatility. Traders are now watching upcoming U.S. data on wholesale inventories and consumer sentiment.
