Binance dismisses Lagarde MiCA speculation and reaffirms Europe plans

Binance Greece license: the exchange addresses reports on its failed bid and EU plans See how Binance is positioning for MiCA compliance across Europe and what comes next

Binance said it will not comment on speculation after reports claimed European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde intervened in the exchange’s unsuccessful bid for a crypto license in Greece. The report, published Friday, said a Greek regulator had expected approval for Binance’s application before the process shifted. Binance responded that it remains focused on a longterm, compliant presence in Europe under the European Union’s Markets in CryptoAssets (MiCA) framework. The exchange had applied for a MiCArelated license in Greece in January, but later withdrew the application and said it would pursue authorization in another EU jurisdiction before the July 1 MiCA deadline. The ECB declined to comment, and Greece’s Hellenic Capital Market Commission had not responded publicly at the time of publication.
