Highway 401 crash near Gananoque kills two GTA women in early-morning collision OPP seeks witnesses and dashcam video as investigators examine the deadly wreck
Two women from the Greater Toronto Area were killed early Monday in a collision on Highway 401 near Gananoque, Ontario, police said.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police, emergency crews were called to the westbound lanes shortly after 12:30 a.m. Investigators say a passenger vehicle struck a transport truck that had stopped on the right shoulder with safety cones in place.
The victims, ages 47 and 73, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the passenger vehicle had no serious injuries and was taken to hospital for assessment, while the truck driver was not hurt.
OPP is asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam video from the area to contact Leeds County OPP.
