Two people were arrested after climbing to the top of the Empire State Building’s antenna in New York City and unfurling a banner with a message about love and peace on Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses and helicopter video showed the pair, dressed in black and wearing masks, standing on a narrow ledge several hundred metres above Midtown Manhattan. They appeared to embrace, take selfies and make a proposallike gesture before climbing back down.
Police said no one was injured. The building was briefly affected by the incident, and officials said it was not immediately clear how the climbers reached the antenna area.
