G20 members back digital asset innovation pathways

G20 digital assets policy supports growth and clearer cross-border payment rules. See how the US-led push could shape stablecoin regulation and market stability.

G20 members, led by the United States during its presidency, said digital assets could contribute to broader economic growth and improve crossborder payments. In a statement released by the US Treasury Department, the group said it supports responsible regulatory and supervisory frameworks that can help maintain financial stability while creating clearer rules for digital asset innovation. The G20 also said it is waiting for additional findings from the Financial Stability Board on global stablecoin arrangements, including data sources, availability, and possible challenges. The statement comes as several jurisdictions, including the EU and the US, continue to develop rules for cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.
