Google announces Agentic Resource Discovery specification

Google has introduced Agentic Resource Discovery (ARD), an open specification designed to help AI agents find, verify, and connect with tools, skills, and other agents across the web. The company says ARD addresses a current gap in the agent ecosystem by standardizing how capabilities are published and discovered across organizations and platforms. The model uses catalogs, which are hosted on an organization’s domain, and registries, which crawl and index those catalogs so agents can search for matching resources. Google says ARD is meant to support secure verification before connection, using trust metadata to confirm publisher identity. The company also said ARD support will be added to Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform through Agent Registry, which is intended to help enterprises govern and manage agentic resources at scale.
