Canada to test Alert Ready emergency system over two days

Alert Ready test alerts will reach Canadians on TV, radio and wireless devices See when the emergency test hits your province and avoid surprise alarms

Many Canadians will receive test alerts from the national Alert Ready emergency system over the next two days. The test message and tone will be sent on television, radio and compatible wireless devices. The alert cannot be opted out of, which is the same for real emergency notifications. On Wednesday, the test will go out at different local times across most provinces and territories, including Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Yukon and others. Ontario will be the only province tested on Thursday at 1:55 p.m. ET. Quebec has not yet scheduled its test, while Saskatchewan’s has been cancelled.
