Stocks move midday as cybersecurity and AI infrastructure shares rally

U.S. stocks slip and cybersecurity stocks gain as AI headlines shake markets See which chip, energy, and takeover movers are driving trading now

U.S. stocks moved sharply in midday trading as investors reacted to analyst updates, artificial intelligence headlines, and changes in commodity prices. Cybersecurity names were among the biggest gainers. Palo Alto Networks rose, while Zscaler and CrowdStrike each advanced after comments from AI industry leaders raised fresh concerns about the pace of AI development and safety. Chip stocks fell as sentiment weakened across the AI trade. Nvidia, Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, and Marvell Technology all declined after remarks from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and other executives called for a slowdown in AI capability development. Other notable movers included Rum Group, which climbed after a report that Anthropic had reached a longterm computing deal with the company. Energy stocks also gained on higher oil prices, while several companies in other sectors moved on analyst ratings, takeover news, or government investment announcements.
