Eli Lilly says one-third of new GLP-1 pill patients are using Foundayo
Foundayo demand climbs as Eli Lilly expands oral GLP-1 production and market share See how the Houston plant and Medicare coverage could fuel Lilly's next growth phase
Eli Lilly CEO Dave Ricks said on Monday that onethird of new GLP1 pill patients are starting treatment with the company’s oral drug Foundayo. He made the comments during a CNBC interview as Lilly began work on a new manufacturing site in Houston, Texas.
The company said the $6.5 billion plant, expected to be operational by 2030, will support production of Foundayo and other smallmolecule medicines across several therapeutic areas. Lilly has said demand for the obesity pill is increasing in the U.S., helped by expanded Medicare coverage that began on July 1.
Ricks also said Lilly’s share of the oral GLP1 market is rising and that the company plans to bring Foundayo to additional international markets. The update comes as Lilly continues to expand manufacturing capacity to support its diabetes and obesity drug portfolio and compete with Novo Nordisk.
