Montreal Canadiens tickets are the NHL's most expensive this season
Montreal Canadiens tickets top the NHL as Bell Centre prices surge past $220 See why demand is rising and how fans are feeling the squeeze on resale market
Montreal Canadiens fans will pay the highest average ticket prices in the NHL this season, according to tickettracking data cited in a CBC report. The average cost of the cheapest home tickets at the Bell Centre is more than $220, well above the league average.
The jump comes after a strong run for the team, including a return to the playoffs and an appearance in the Eastern Conference final. Sports economist Moshe Lander said that as the Canadiens improve, more fans are willing to buy tickets, which pushes prices higher.
Some longtime fans said the rising costs are making games harder to afford, especially on the resale market where prices can climb much higher. The team says it tries to keep tickets available through public sales and discounted options, but many seats are quickly sold out and later appear on secondary marketplaces.
