Heat warnings issued across most of British Columbia
BC heat warnings: hot, dry weather raises health risks across the province Stay alert, check on neighbors, and protect vulnerable people through the heat
Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for much of British Columbia as a stretch of hot weather is expected to continue for several days.
The agency says daytime temperatures will climb under a ridge of high pressure, with some areas staying warm overnight instead of cooling off fully. In the Fraser Canyon, where wildfires are also burning near Boston Bar, temperatures could reach 40 C on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say the heat creates health risks for everyone, with higher concern for seniors, people living alone, and those with certain medical or mental health conditions. Residents are being urged to check on neighbours and family members and to watch for signs of heat illness.
