Senate Democrats seek hearings on Trump’s crypto holdings
Trump crypto holdings raise national security concerns over foreign investors See why senators want hearings on the president’s crypto ties and policy risks
Five Senate Democrats are calling for hearings into whether President Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency holdings raise national security concerns, with questions focused on foreign and unidentified investors in his family’s crypto venture.
The lawmakers said their request was prompted by Trump’s 2025 financial disclosure, which CNBC analyzed as showing at least $2.24 billion in revenue, including more than $580 million tied to cryptorelated income. Their letter specifically pointed to World Liberty Financial, a Trump familyaffiliated business, and reporting that a group linked to the United Arab Emirates bought a 49% stake in the company.
The senators asked Republicanled committees to examine whether those business ties could have affected U.S. policy decisions. The White House and World Liberty Financial did not immediately comment, and Republicans have not scheduled hearings in response to the request.
