Warm weather over the weekend set at least 24 daily temperature records across British Columbia, with several communities seeing highs above 30 C.
Environment Canada said Pemberton reached 32 C on Sunday, beating a record set nearly 70 years ago. Other Interior locations including Osoyoos, Lillooet and Cache Creek also climbed above 30 C, while Squamish came close at 29.9 C.
In Victoria, the harbourfront reached nearly 27 C, topping a record that had stood since 1898. The B.C. Wildfire Service said the continued aboveseasonal temperatures could raise the risk of new wildfire starts, and noted there are about 31 active wildfires in the province, roughly 10 of them started in the past day.
