Ontario government launches review of major public agencies

The Ontario government has started reviews of several large public agencies to examine efficiency and productivity, Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy said Wednesday.
The move comes as government spending faces closer attention after reports that Torontoarea Progressive Conservative caucus members charged thousands of dollars in hotel stays. Premier Doug Ford has said those expenses should be repaid, though Bethlenfalvy said he could not confirm whether that has happened.
The agencies being reviewed include Metrolinx, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, Supply Ontario, the LCBO, Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation, Legal Aid Ontario, Agricorp, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The province says the reviews will begin this summer and are aimed at making spending more sustainable.
