Whitehat security researchers transferred 52.37 bitcoin to a Wyomingbased recovery trust after a vulnerability in Coldcard wallets exposed funds to theft.
According to Galaxy Digital research head Alex Thorn, the rescued bitcoin represents about 40% of the coins moved in the exploit’s second wave. He said 3.0134 BTC in the transfer came from addresses Galaxy had not previously tracked, but the firm could not confirm whether those funds were also tied to the same flaw.
Security researcher Nick Bax said he helped recover roughly 50 bitcoin at the end of July because the funds were at immediate risk of being stolen. Thorn also cited a published estimate of 1,830 BTC across 9,162 addresses linked to the vulnerability. Wallet owners can check the Crypto Recovery Trust website to see whether their funds are under its control.
