The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is conducting an extensive investigation into Polymarket, according to a person familiar with the matter. The timing of the probe was not disclosed.
The report follows a Wall Street Journal story that said Polymarket ran a misleading marketing campaign, including content that made creators appear to be winning on the platform without actually risking money. Both the CFTC and Polymarket declined to comment.
Polymarket said it is reviewing promotional materials to ensure they meet its standards and disclosure requirements. The investigation comes after the company regained access to U.S. users this year, following earlier regulatory action that was later dropped in 2025.
